Advances in Local Governance: The Participatory Process of Laguna Concepción
On August 21, 2025, representatives of the Indigenous community, local authorities, and SAVIA met in Pailón to advance the creation of the internal regulations for the Laguna Concepción Protected Natural Area (UCPN). The process was characterized by a participatory approach that allowed local communities to have a voice in defining the governance and conservation standards for the area.
Open Dialogue for Sustainability
During the session, the preliminary draft of the internal regulations was shared, and the text was reviewed and adjusted based on the participants' input. This working group strengthened the collaboration between the authorities and the communities, ensuring the representation of all relevant stakeholders in the management of the protected area.
Expected Long-Term Impact
This regulation will lay the foundation for participatory and legally sound management of the Laguna Concepción Protected Natural Area. In the long term, it will facilitate the replication of the model in other protected areas, consolidating a network of committees with harmonized regulations and a community-based approach to conservation.
