Moving towards participatory management: The Tucabaca Workshop

In September 2025, the municipality of Roboré hosted a key workshop for the development of the Internal Regulations of the Management Committee for the Valle de Tucabaca Protected Area and Municipal Wildlife Reserve. This participatory working group brought together local authorities, community representatives, and technical experts from SAVIA and DICOPAN, with the goal of strengthening the governance of the protected area through a regulatory framework tailored to the local context.

Collective Construction of the Regulations

During the session, the preliminary draft of the Management Committee's internal regulations was presented. In a collaborative process, participants analyzed and adjusted each article to ensure the document reflected local needs and was aligned with current regulations, including Departmental Law No. 313 and Departmental Decree No. 465.

Space for Dialogue and Reconciliation

The participatory methodology ensured that all voices were heard, fostering an open dialogue between authorities, community representatives, and technical experts. This approach guaranteed that the regulations were not only technical but also inclusive, addressing the concerns of local communities, who are the primary stewards of the Tucabaca Valley's natural resources.
