Strengthening Local Management: The Consolidation of a Model Internal Regulations
In July 2025, a collaborative process between SAVIA, DICOPAN, and the members of the Management Committee of the Santa Cruz La Vieja UCPN culminated in the consolidation of the protected area's internal regulations. These regulations, now a model of reference, will lay the foundation for participatory and sustainable management in other protected areas of the region.
Active Collaboration in the Creation of the Regulations
During the sessions, DICOPAN's legal advisors guided the regulatory review, ensuring that the regulations were aligned with Law No. 313 and Departmental Decree No. 465. In addition, the management committee members provided valuable feedback that ensured adaptation to local needs.
Long-Term Impact
The consolidation of this regulation establishes a solid foundation for the governance of the UCPN Santa Cruz La Vieja, and will serve as a model for other protected areas, strengthening regulatory coherence and improving inter-institutional coordination.
