– TCO CIBAPA, area of influence of the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park –

In response to the implementation of projects with communities and protected areas, this 2021 management, the Savia Association has been developing actions in the areas of influence of the protected areas of the region.

In that context, the technical team from Savia and the ECCOS Program, within the framework of the objectives of species protection and local governance, was in the last month of August in the Porvenir Community of the CIBAPA Indigenous Territory (Central Indigenous del Bajo Paraguá), in the immediate area of influence of the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park, where, through an Educational Day, they promoted among children and adults the values of conservation of the region, the life of the jaguar and its connection with the well-being of the Community.

Continuing the actions, the Project Operation Jaguar From October 29th to November 1st, the "DIAGNOSTIC WORKSHOP ON COEXISTENCE BETWEEN THE JAGUAR AND THE EL PORVENIR COMMUNITY (TCO BAJO PARAGUÁ – PN NKM)" is scheduled to take place. The knowledge imparted and acquired in this participatory and research workshop would be of great contribution to both the Indigenous Territorial Management of the TCO and the Porvenir area, as well as to the management of the Protected Area, due to the priority of strengthening good governance and ecological stability in this highly relevant area of influence.

The SAVIA Association, has been promoting the conservation of ecosystems and key species such as the Jaguar through the Programs ECCOS (EU) and the Project Operation Jaguar Bolivia From the Dutch Committee of the IUCN NL. We thank Chief Maida Peña and the Porvenir Community for opening their doors to us, and also the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park for their support.
